River levels have been falling on the River Dearne and its tributaries throughout the afternoon and evening on Monday 6th January 2025. River levels peaked at Bolton Upon Dearne at around 18:00pm and will remain high overnight and into tomorrow, Tuesday 7th January and flooding is possible. Areas most at risk include the River Dearne and its tributaries from Denby Dale to Mexborough. No further significant rainfall is expected overnight and it is forecast to be mainly dry and cold for the next few days. Cold temperatures are forecast to continue through next week and icy conditions remain. We are closely monitoring the situation. Please avoid using low lying footpaths and bridges near local watercourses. Please refer to advice from local authorities and the emergency services regarding risks relating to snow and icy conditions. River levels are forecast to rise on the River Dearne and its tributaries, Sunday 5th January 2025, due to rainfall and melting of snowfall throughout today.
River levels are expected to rise from 22:00 this evening and flooding is possible between 05:30 tomorrow morning, Monday 6th January and 05:00 Tuesday 7th January 2025. Areas most at risk include the River Dearne and its tributaries from Denby Dale to Mexborough.

Further flooding is possible overnight as river levels will rise rapidly due to heavy rainfall. River levels are forecast to peak at Bolton Bridge around midday tomorrow, 01/01/2025.

Areas most at risk include low lying land around these areas, Old Moor, Bolton Ings, Cudworth, Houghton and Wombwell Washlands. The washlands have been filling and flooding of low-lying land near the watercourse remains likely throughout Friday, 09/02/2024.
We expect river levels to begin to fall later today and into this evening, however we will continue to monitor river levels and rainfall closely.

River levels are rising in the River Dearne catchment, particularly at Bolton Bridge and Darton. We expect levels to begin to fall as rainfall subsides during the evening tonight, Tuesday 2/1/24. The B6098 which crosses the River Dearne is likely to see flooding, as well as washlands around Darton. We will continue to monitor levels closely. Avoid using low lying footpaths and any bridges near local watercourses and do not attempt to walk or drive through flood water. We expect to see slightly lower levels to those reached last night, 9/12/2023. Therefore, this Flood Alert remains in force. Areas most at risk include Old Moor, Bolton Ings, Cudworth, Houghton and Wombwell Washlands.
Levels are expected to rise again at around 09:00 PM tonight, 10/12/2023, with a peak in Darton around 03:00 to 04:00 AM on Monday morning. Flooding is possible from 8 PM to 8 AM on 09/12/2023 to 10/12/2023, with a peak in Barnsley at 4 AM on 10/12/2023. Further rainfall is forecast overnight with weather remaining unsettled throughout the rest of the weekend.

River levels have now either peaked or are falling and will continue to fall through the night and into tomorrow, 18/11/22. We are closely monitoring the situation. No further rainfall is currently forecast overnight or tomorrow. We therefore plan to remove this flood alert in the morning.

River levels have risen as a result of persistent heavy rainfall overnight and through today. Consequently, flooding of roads and low-lying land is expected this afternoon and into this evening, 17/11/22. Areas most at risk are low-lying land and roads. Flooding of properties is not forecast at this point, however there may be surface water issues locally. Further rainfall is forecast throughout the day but is expected to die away this evening and overnight. We currently expect river levels to peak at around 18:00 in the Darton area and around 21:30 in the Darfield area, before starting to fall through this evening and overnight.
We are closely monitoring the situation. Our incident response staff are checking defences and clearing weed screens. Please avoid using low-lying footpaths near local watercourses.
